DIY Natural Dog Perfume and Essential Oils
by Pet Qwerks Toys on October 29, 2019
We’ll cuddle with our dogs no matter what. They’re there for us and we’re there for them. Rain or shine. Yes, even rain. We may love our puppers, but it’s inevitable, whether we get caught in a rainstorm during a run, they jump into a lake or roll in who knows what, our furry best friends can get a little stinky.
Luckily there are solutions to this. Sure, we can bathe them but too much of that can be harmful. There are synthetic scents we can spray on them, too — but these can also be harmful to our pets, as well as the environment.
Enter, doggy essential oil perfumes We all know essential oils have been taking over the human beauty market, but they’re just as great for our furry friends! These natural solutions not only help our dogs smell great, but also has soothing effects that can do everything from calm an anxious pup or soothe an older dog’s joint pain.
The best part about this perfume is that you can DIY! FragranceX describes how to create your dog’s personal mix, but whatever you chose the recipe is incredibly easy.
First, pick the type of oil you want to use.
Each one has a specific benefit to it, so make sure to have your pup’s tendencies in mind when choosing. Peppermint can soothe joints, whereas eucalyptus can help clear congestion if your pet is having allergies. Lavender can even help calm anxious dogs, while peppermint can have joint soothing properties. Either way, they all smell great.
Then, add 6 drops of this oil into a 4oz. spray bottle, add warm water to fill the rest of the spray bottle up, shake and you’re good to go!
